Amazon announced "an average FBA fee increase of $0.08 per unit" for 2026. That's the press release. Here's the reality: a fuel surcharge adding $0.13/unit that isn't on the rate card page ($1,300/year at 10,000 units). A packaging incentive that quietly became a penalty — $16,800/year for non-enrolled Bulky sellers, entirely avoidable through free certification. And a discount programme worth up to $1.91/unit that's live in the US and coming to EU — and the platform can model what it's worth to you before it arrives.
The changes didn't arrive in one announcement. The surcharge was April — not January. The SIPP flip was January but framed as a programme update, not a fee change. MCF Preferred Pricing launched mid-year. The platform monitors 1,236 source URLs across all platforms. When a rate changes, it computes the per-unit impact on YOUR products. Not the press release. The actual cost, on your business, the day the page changes.
Amazon applied a fuel and logistics surcharge on top of every FBA fulfilment fee. The rate card page doesn't include it. Your fee calculator doesn't know it exists.
| Region | Surcharge | Effective date | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
| US | 3.5% | 17 April 2026 | FBA fulfilment, Remote Fulfilment (CA/MX/BR) |
| US | 3.5% | 2 May 2026 | MCF fulfilment, Buy with Prime |
| UK, DE, FR, IT, ES, NL, BE, SE, PL, IE | 1.5% | 17 April 2026 | FBA fulfilment |
| DE | 1.5% | 2 May 2026 | MCF fulfilment |
The surcharge is applied on top of published fulfilment rates. The rate card pages do NOT include it.
On the $25 Home and Kitchen product (Small standard, 8+ to 10 oz):
| US seller | UK seller | |
|---|---|---|
| Base FBA fulfilment fee | $3.68 | £2.72* |
| Fuel surcharge | 3.5% = $0.13 | 1.5% = £0.04 |
| What you actually pay | $3.81 | £2.76 |
*UK rate for equivalent product from Amazon UK's own fee schedule.
At 10,000 units/year: US surcharge adds $1,300. UK surcharge adds approximately £400. Same platform. Same service. Different rates. Most sellers don't know the rates differ because they only see their own marketplace.
So what? Every fee calculator that reads the rate card and stops there shows the wrong number. On one product, that's $1,300/year. Across a catalogue of 20 FBA products, it's $26,000/year in fees that aren't visible on the page you're checking.

Amazon used to give sellers a discount for enrolling in SIPP (Ships in Product Packaging). In January 2026, they flipped it. Now sellers who AREN'T enrolled pay a fee. The economic effect looks similar. The cost for non-enrolled Bulky sellers is not.
Before (2025): SIPP-enrolled sellers received a $1.32/unit discount on Large Bulky items. Non-enrolled sellers paid the standard rate.
After (January 2026): The SIPP discount for Large Bulky was removed. In its place, a packaging fee applies to sellers NOT enrolled:
| Weight band | Non-SIPP packaging fee |
|---|---|
| 0 to 5 lb | $1.51 |
| 5 to 10 lb | $1.68 |
| 10 to 15 lb | $1.97 |
| 15 to 20 lb | $2.60 |
| 20 to 25 lb | $2.92 |
| 25 to 30 lb | $3.47 |
| 30 to 35 lb | $3.60 |
| 35 to 40 lb | $3.78 |
| 40 to 45 lb | $3.80 |
| 45+ lb | $4.04 |
The shift: A seller who wasn't enrolled in SIPP in 2025 paid nothing extra. The same seller in 2026 pays $1.51–$4.04 per unit. What was optional became effectively mandatory.
A 10 lb Bulky item at 10,000 units/year: $1.68 × 10,000 = $16,800/year in packaging fees. Avoidable through free SIPP certification. Products under 20 lb can self-test — no lab fee, no third-party cost.
For Small standard items, the SIPP discount still applies ($0.04–$0.07/unit). No penalty for non-enrolment. The packaging fee only hits Bulky items. On this example product (Small standard): the discount is $0.06/unit, $600/year at 10,000 units. Free to capture. Most sellers haven't.
So what? Amazon framed this as a simplification. For enrolled sellers, the impact is minimal. For non-enrolled Bulky sellers, it's a new cost that didn't exist 12 months ago.

Multi-Channel Fulfilment (MCF) lets sellers use Amazon's fulfilment to ship orders from other channels — Shopify, eBay, their own website. In January 2026, Amazon launched a tiered discount programme for MCF in the US. When the programme arrives in Europe, it can compute what it saves you before it's available.
| Programme tier | MCF volume (rolling 12-week) | MCF fee discount | FBA credit per MCF unit | Total benefit per unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6-month auto-enrolment | First 100,000 units or 12 months | 15% | $1.00 | ~$1.91 |
| 12-month, 1,200–7,000 units | Rolling 12-week | 5% | $0.25 | ~$0.55 |
| 12-month, 7,001–13,000 units | Rolling 12-week | 8% | $0.50 | ~$0.98 |
| 12-month, 13,001–19,000 units | Rolling 12-week | 12% | $0.75 | ~$1.47 |
| 12-month, over 19,001 units | Rolling 12-week | 15% | $1.00 | ~$1.91 |
*Total benefit computed on standard MCF rate of approximately $6.09/unit (standard shipping, 1 UPO).
In dollars: A seller shipping 5,000 MCF units per 12-week period (20,000/year) at the 15% tier saves $0.91/unit on MCF fees plus $1.00/unit in FBA credits = $1.91/unit. At 20,000 units/year: $38,200. And the FBA credit reduces costs on the Amazon channel too — it's not just an MCF benefit.
A seller shipping 2,000 MCF units per 12-week period (at the 5% tier): $0.55/unit. At 8,000 units/year: $4,400.

MCF Preferred Pricing is US-only today. But the platform holds 825 MCF fee records across US, UK, and DE — each extracted from its own marketplace documentation. Amazon DE launched updated MCF pricing in May 2026 with UPO tiering and a 1.5% fuel surcharge.
A multi-channel seller on Amazon DE shipping 5,000 MCF units/year currently pays approximately €6.50/unit in MCF fulfilment. If Preferred Pricing arrives in DE at the same tier structure as the US:
| Tier | MCF discount | Annual saving (5,000 units) |
|---|---|---|
| 5% | €0.33/unit | €1,625 |
| 15% | €0.98/unit | €4,875 |
Plus FBA credits that reduce DE FBA costs. The platform can model this today — from the published DE MCF rates it already holds. When the programme launches, the seller knows whether to opt in on day one. Not after reading the announcement, figuring out the tiers, and computing the impact manually.
So what? This is what change detection looks like at its most useful — not telling you a programme launched, but telling you what it's worth to YOUR business at YOUR volume before it even arrives. A seller can compare the potential saving against current MCF costs using the published rates from both marketplaces — before the programme arrives.
Each was published. None were obvious.
The fuel surcharge is on a separate page from the rate card — and the rate card doesn't include it. The SIPP packaging flip was announced as a programme update, not a fee increase. MCF Preferred Pricing launched in the US with no announcement timeline for Europe.
A seller reading the FBA fee schedule page sees the pre-surcharge rate. A seller checking SIPP sees the Small standard discount and may not realise Bulky items now pay a penalty for non-enrolment. A seller on Amazon DE doesn't know MCF Preferred Pricing exists because it's not on their marketplace yet.
The platform sees all of it. 1,236 source URLs monitored across all 26 marketplaces. When a rate changes, it computes the per-unit impact on every affected product. When a programme launches in one region, it models what it would mean in another. When a structural change reframes a discount as a penalty, it computes the difference for your specific products.
Not the press release. Not the blog summary. The per-unit impact on your business.

Your product. Your fees. Computed.
The fuel surcharge, SIPP packaging penalty, and MCF savings were three of twelve findings that totalled £37,400/year for one seller. The other nine came from fee structures that haven't changed — they were always there, just never assembled.
